The Tadoba Tiger Reserve is rich in flora and fauna. Butterflies, Reptiles and Some of the famous trees,medicinal plants, carnivores and herbivores of this parks are as follows.
Flora in Tadoba Tiger Reserve
The most popular species of trees is Teak and bamboo in this forest. Other common trees include:
- Ain (Crocodile Bark)
- Karaya Gum
- Mahua Madhuca (Crepe Myrtle)
- LanneaCoramandelica (Wodier Tree)
Few medicinal plants available in Tadoba Tiger Reserve are as follows:
- The climber KachKujali (velvet bean) found here is a medicinal plant used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
- The leaves of Bheria are used as an insect repellent and Bija is a medicinal gum.
- Beheda is also an important medicine found here.
In addition, Axlewood Anogeissus Latifolia is also found here that is fire-resistant species, while on the other side, Butea monosperma adds vivacious color to this forest. Arjun trees are also found at Panchadhara.
Fauna in Tadoba Tiger Reserve
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a popular tiger reserve called as ‘The Land of Tigers’ as large number of Tigers (approx.127) are found here. Apart from the species of Bengal Tiger, this park is home to other mammals like Sloth Bear, Leopard, Rusty Spotted Cat, Gaur (Indian Bison), Indian Mouse Deer, Ratel, Sambar, Wild Pig, Spotted Deer, Flying Squirrel, Four Horned Antelope, to name a few. As soon the night falls, the Small Indian Civet, the Palm Civet, the Ratel, and the Flying squirrel make their presence felt.
Some of the major wild animals that are always found in this park include:

- Blue bulls
- Indian Pangolins
- Common Langoors
Above all, there are approx 195 species of birds that include honey buzzard, crested serpent eagle, the shy jungle fowl, grey-headed fishing eagle, paradise flycatcher, etc. Species of reptiles are also found in this park like endangered Indian python, terrapins, star tortoise, cobra, etc. Apart from this, giant wood spider, the signature spider, and red wood spiders are also found during monsoon season.
Reptiles in TadobaTiger Reserve
Reptiles here include the endangered Indian Python and the common Indian Monitor. Terrapins, Indian star tortoise, Indian Cobra and Russel’s viper also live in Tadoba.
Butterflies in Tadoba Tiger Reserve
74 species of Butterflies have been recorded Including the Pansies, Monarch, Mormons and Swordtails.
Insects in Tadoba Tiger Reserve
Insect species include the endangered Danaid Egg-Fly and Great Eggfly. Dragonflies, Stick Insects, Jewel Beetles and the Praying Mantis are other insects found in the reserve.
Spiders in Tadoba Tiger Reserve
The Signature Spider, Giant Wood Spider and Red Wood Spiders are often seen during the monsoon and soon after. Some hunting spiders like the Wolf Spiders, Crab Spiders and Lynx Spiders are also common.
